There are many over the counter products that are marketed for tinnitus relief, and some are touted to be natural remedies that are miracle cures for tinnitus.

Are OTC tinnitus supplements safe to take?

Keep in mind that over the counter supplements containing vitamins and herbs are classified as “food” by the FDA. This means that they have not gone through testing and regulatory procedures to become FDA approved.

Some of these products contain ingredients that may be either ineffective or worse yet toxic. They could also possibly have adverse effects when taken alone or in combination with other supplements or medications.  It is important for users of these products to carefully research all ingredients prior to use.  You can check supplements for warnings and recalls by typing it in on the FDA website.
